General information about Rhenium:
Symbol: Re
Atomic Number: 75
Atomic Mass: 186.21 u
Description:
Rhenium represented as Re on the periodic table has the atomic number 75. A silvery gray metal that carries the weight of being one of the rarest metals on the planet. Naturally resistant to corrosion and oxidation. However, it tends to slowly pigmentation when exposed to moist air for a long time. It is among the top five refractory metals, therefore, it can easily withstand high and low temperatures.
Mainly used with platinum, it can be used as a catalyst in the production of unleaded and high octane gasoline. In addition, it is commonly used as an alloy for jet engines, tungsten and molybdenum-based alloys. In addition, rhenium is also used as a filament for mass spectrographs.
