Description:

Tantalum is named after the great Greek character Tantalus, a rare hard metal that has a bluish tinge in its natural form. Commonly found with niobium in minerals such as tantalite and columbite. The metal is mainly used in the aerospace and IT industries. It is the 51st most abundant element in the earth's crust and contains a low vapor pressure along with a good rate of thermal and electrical conductivity.

 

It is used as an elemental additive for cobalt- or nickel-based superalloys, primarily used for land-based gas turbines and jet engines. Second, the metal offers great utility in capacitors in the electronics industry. Making it a common component in smartphones, computers, cell phones and computer gaming system. Some of its many features are high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, biocompatibility and machinability.
